The God Who Sees You

She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” Genesis 16:13 NIV

Sitting in the waiting room of life can be difficult.

Sometimes it looks like the waiting room of a doctor’s office. Sometimes it’s waiting for a job offer, a proposal, a positive pregnancy test, financial relief, healing, or direction. Waiting takes many forms, but every one of us knows what it feels like to long for an answer that hasn’t come.

Waiting often feels like a wilderness—not the dramatic kind, but the quiet, aching kind. The kind where you wonder if anyone notices. The kind where you’re tired of being strong. The kind where prayers seem to echo into silence.

That is where we meet Hagar.

Alone, rejected, and uncertain of what would come next, Hagar encountered God in the wilderness. There she gave Him a name: The God who sees me.” In the middle of her pain, she discovered that she was not invisible. God saw her suffering, heard her cries, and met her with compassion.

Maybe that’s exactly what you need to remember today.

Your waiting is not wasted.

Your emptiness is not failure.

Your lack is not a sign that God has forgotten you.

Throughout Scripture, God has a beautiful way of working through what appears empty. He works with empty bank accounts, empty homes, empty dreams, empty wombs, an empty manger, and ultimately an empty tomb. What looks like lack to us often becomes the very place where God’s power is revealed.

Whenever you feel like you have “nothing left to give,” you are standing in the very place where God delights to work.

In your season of waiting and uncertainty, God is preparing something that cannot be produced by human strength. He has not forgotten you. He is forming something that may only make sense when you look back and see His hand all along.

“But those who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 NIV

Your waiting is the soil where God grows miracles. Seeds spend much of their lives hidden beneath the surface before anyone sees new life. Yet something beautiful is happening long before it becomes visible.

If you feel stuck, your job is not to strive harder or figure everything out. Your calling today is to stay close to God, keep taking the next faithful step, and remain available to His leading.

God does not exist only in holy places. He is present where pain happens.

No one is invisible to God.

Not in exile.

Not in loneliness.

Not when others walk away.

God sees. God hears. God remains.

He sees the parts of you that you never say out loud. He knows the weight you quietly carry and the courage it has taken simply to keep going. He sees the tears that never fell or fell in quiet solitude.

Beer-lahai-roi is more than a location. It is a promise.

You are not invisible to God.

God sees you.

God has not forgotten you.

God is already waiting where He is leading you next.

God, You are the One who sees me. Meet me today as You met Hagar—in the lonely places, the uncertain places, and the places where I wonder what comes next. Help me trust that You are working even when I cannot see it. Give me the courage to keep taking the next faithful step, knowing that You have not forgotten me. Thank You for seeing me, hearing me, and leading me with compassion. Amen.
